My tecumseh vantage 35 won't collect grass clippings.i was given this mower and serviced it BUT when i came to use it, it dosen't collect any grass, can anyone help. does the blade have the bent up bits pointing to the sky or down to the grass, at the moment i have them pointing down as this seems to make the blade edge cut the grass. if i turn it over so that the bent parts of the blade face to the sky these bent bits hit the grass and not the blade. regards vince. see pictures as it is at the moment.

Look on the blade and see if it is marked "Grass side" "Up" or "down" most blades are marked in some way to show which side is up. Any chance the is a mulching block in the discharge opening?

The flute on the end of the blade must go up.
Yours looks like it is pointing down
A lot of blades come in both left hand cut & right hand cut.
So the leading edge as the blade spins must be the sharp bit and the trailing edge ( flute ) must point up

Hi Thanks for your reply, this makes sense this is what i thought. i think someone has put the wrong blade in because if i put the blade in with the flutes up the flute hits the grass and not the blade. see my latest picture of the blade.

thanks vince

You are correct that is not the right blade.

I should have said this before. I need the model number of the mower. Blade size and age of mower at the least.
