Tecumseh Spark

I have the original Tech. 6hp model HH60-105079D on an old Troy built tiller with no spark. Pulled the new plug-no spark. Pulled the flywheel and inspected everything. The points look new and are perfectly clean; there were no apparent anomalies in this area. Is it possible I just need to replace the Mag? Or, replace this tired motor with a new one?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Looks can be deceiving. My ex is an excellent example of this phenomenon.

Do you have continuity/no continuity when points open and close?

Maybe this manual may help, but be careful not to remove or move the coil assembly until you are positive the coil is bad. If you have moved the assembly your timing may be off. Read the section on testing and adjusting the points will be of great help to you. Read carefully.
Report back if you need more help.

No, I never even thought to do that.

To bad this procedure won't work on women.

Thank you.

The points may look good but they get coated from just sitting. Points are cheap replace them if you can find them anymore?? start small then work to bigger things like coil or new engine.

Thank you. I'm considering just buying a new Briggs 900, #12S432-0036.
