Tecumseh ohv155 204502a when I try to start the engine all I here is a clicking from under the seat. I try to jump it with my battery charger but the starter hummed. I think the charger wasn't giving it enough power to turn the starter. I just put new connecting rod in and piston and rings. Prior to me working on the engine the engine starter rotated the engine.

The first thing you need to due it turn the flywheel by hand and make sure the engine will turn all the way over, before considering other avenues. the click that you are hearing most likely is the starter solenoid, which could be faulty, but could also indicate a starter problem, or a siezed engine problem.

I would follow IL's advise, but add, make sure that the ground wire connection on the engine or frame is good and tight.

It may just need a good battery.

Find out where the clicking is coming from. It is likely the solenoid. Rapid clicking indicates a weak battery, but more likely dirty/poor connections at the battery/starter/frame-ground.

The new piston/rod/rings must have cost a bunch......

so it threw a rod?

If not, why did you replace those items, and how did you do it?

Replacing a rod usually means because the old one seized then came apart. So polishing/buffing the old crank is very important, just give a bit more backround and current details....
