Aluminum transfer onto the crankshaft and smearing of the aluminum in the rod journal show lack of lubrication failure.

:smile:ILENGINE is spot on. I would clean that alum. off the rod journal and mic. the journal. checking dia. and run out before ordering a rod. Don B.

Ok thank u I mic the journal it was 41.6mm

:smile: You are Welcome. 41MM= 1.614. Did you mic the journal 90 degrees apart, or just take one reading? My book shows OHV 13-17 HP journal size 1.6235-1.6240 (41.24MM-41.25MM) according to your number the journal is .24MM (.0095) under the minimum 0f 41.24 MM (1.6235), which leads me to believe that that rod journal has already be ground .010 under? Don B.

Thank you buckshot for the help I just took a reading. I think u are correct the journal was ground .10 the cylinder has honing marks

On the piston it has a arrow is the arrow suppose to be pointed at the fly wheel

Thank you buckshot for the help I just took a reading. I think u are correct the journal was ground .10 the cylinder has honing marks
