Hi I'm a new member from Australia, could anyone please tell me where I can buy carby parts, lots of Companies in USA don't export to here.
Almost as if they are protecting a very well hidden supplier in Australia.
This is a big country-- like the US-but only 24 million people, strung out mostly on the coasts finding parts for defunct or unusual machinery ain't easy.
Lots of suppliers on the net in the US don't bother to even answer my enquiries.
Especially as the engine was fitted to a Troybilt shredder of about 1997 vintage the main difference seems to be in the carb/governor/ throttle linkage area- I have one link missing but what I mainly need is a carb service kit-I'll wing the rest.
I'd appreciate directions to a real small engine parts dealer-even if I have to stand the cost of a international call to real person.
Thanks baz

I get a lot of parts from the following companies.
Jacks small engines
Small engine suppliers
Small engine warehouse
Barrets
Messicks.
All export to OZ no problems.
Tecumseh parts are a problem because Tecumseh went broke and the liquidators sold off all the inventory then broke up the company and sold off the various sections.
All the Tecumseh agents down here got burned really bad.
A limited amount of Tecumseh parts are now being made as they are making large engines only (AFAIK )
Bynorm were the last wholesalers for Tecumseh and they got burned really big time so much that they sold out to Stens and are now called Ariens ( Stens parent company ).
Stens closed down the Tecumseh warehouse earlier this year and just prior to that Bynorm did a fire sale of the stock in hand.

Then Troy Built also went to the wall and again the local distributors got burned big time.
Part & parcel of this is unless the shop has old Troy Built micro fiches or parts books on hand there is SFA chances of finding the original parts numbers to chase down equivalent parts.
For some unknown reason local retailers do not even get access to parent companies internal web links.
Stens & Ariens both have excellent parts locating web sites that I used to be able t access before the take over, now I have to use a USA proxy to get access to them.
IF you go the the Aust Briggs web page & try to find parts books or service information, you get the "contact your dealer" response, but go to the USA site and it is all there for free.

I do not bother with any Tecumseh engines, most were not the best in the first place as Tecumseh made the cheapest motors for bottom end products.
There are limited supplies of OEM aftermrket parts , but if it is not in my wholesalers catalogue I tell the customers "tough luck".

Post the engine model & serial number if you have it.
If not a couple of nice clear photos of the carb and the linkages some one might be able to recognise it.

As for having trouble getting bits down here, welcome to the real world where too few Melbourne conglomerates conspire and pay way too much for exclusive Australian distribution rights then suck blood with the prices to pay for their excessive outlay.
Kohler charge $ 795 for Courage flywheels ( + GST ) I can ( an do ) buy complete Kohler engines in the USA and freight them out here for less than that.

Sorry,
I should have noticed you had made 2 posts.
For the HM 100 carb I an get floats, bowl gaskets, float needle & needle seat, as individual parts from Gripskis
OR
The whole overhaul kit from Ariens.
So find a mom & dad repair shop that stocks Gripskie or Stens/Bynorm parts and they should be able to order the carb parts you need.
You can PM me if you want me to get them, I am near Warragamba Dam.
