Had this about five years now, runs great. Mowing this morning and about halfway through the yard the engine started running at a high RPM. It does not have a throttle, it just runs at a single speed, yet it took off and seemed it would keep going higher. It was still cutting fine, but I turned the engine off. Waited a few minutes and started it again; started right up and went into climbing RPM mode. I'm thinking carb issue but wondered if there was a governor that may have been disconnected somehown. Any ideas?

You have a governor linkage issue ,something came loose a spring etc. if it's running away,,,,,,,the govenor has lost control ,
