I recently received an electric lawn mower from my father, a Sunbeam Model# RE-1850. This unit runs quite well and comes with the bag. My question is that I cannot find any information on this particular model. I know from my research that Sunbeam was making electric lawn mowers from the mid 1950s onward but this model eludes me.
I would really like to date this model. I am guessing that it was made it the mid to late 1960s. Possibly being a vintage piece, I want to be sure that I have a reasonable idea of its value. Any help is appreciated! (I will attach photos later).
Thanks for the information. You're right, that model looks very similar to the one I own and the time-frame matches to what I think. I will continue my search to find more info.
Here's the super-deluxe 20" cut version of this... complete with automatic cord return (and original grass catcher). Model RE2175A. Was Sunbeam's most expensive single-blade electric mower in the 1965-68 period. Unless one of those is actually found, I would assume neither this nor any of their cord-reel electrics would return for 1969, the year the Sunbeam electrics would be painted a reddish orange and be co-branded as LAWN CHAMP.
The power switch on this is not on the handle like on your RE1850, but rather on the motor/cord reel housing.
