Sump will not come off the crankshaft

Second post!

After I got the blade adaptor off the bottom of my motor (which is a Briggs, model 100802 0124 B8), I am still unable to slide the sump down any further than it has already come. When twisting it, it twists a certain distance one way and then hits something. In the first picture, I tried to cut through the oil seal in case that's what is causing the inability to pull it off, so that is why it is torn up. In the last picture, there is what looks like a sheared off bolt, but I can't tell, and when I look inside as best as I can, it doesn't seem to be connected to anything. Is there a certain technique I should be using to get this off, or is it supposed to pull straight off the crankshaft? I know I havent done a great job explaining this, so if you need any more information, photos, or videos, ill do my best.

you need to sand down the crankshaft to get the rust off, hopefully you didn't damage crank by cutting on seal, if all else fails I've been able to get old seal out with hooked pick, just go in dig around till you get it out.
Also please only use one thread with ongoing problem, it gets very confusing going back and forth In multiple threads

As stated you need to remove all that rust and crap on the crankshaft. Do not attempt to remove the sump until the shaft is very, very clean and you have coated it with a light coat of oil or grease.

So, I've sanded down the crankshaft really well, and there's only a small bit of rust at the very top near the seal, but it's very smooth, so I'm assuming that it is just a little bit of surface rust. That is what the first video is showing

However, when I went to take the sump off, the same problem occurred, where it would get to a certain point, and then not come off. In the video, near the end is as far as I could get it off before it would be pulling on the crankshaft. Is there something holding it on?

Do you have a rubber hammer/mallet? sometimes they need more encouragement than your bare hands can give. Usually tap the cover on all sides multiple times can get it to work loose.

You still don't have this sump cover off yet? Do you know someone that can come over & help you?
Yeah...engines don't just fall apart, put some pressure on it!

I’ll bet you peened the end of the crankshaft over when you pounded on it. Take a single cut file and file the sides of the end of the crankshaft. You’ll probably see that when you start the very end is higher than the rest of the shaft. You will need to get it smooth at least 1 inch down before removing the cover.

I'm afraid the OP has a bent crankshaft. Doesn't take all that much to to bind in the bearing.

Only thing holding it on is the rust on the crank i like star said a bent shaft (OUCH hate it when that happens). Either way, put the bolt back in the crankshaft till it is just tight and have a friend hold the engine upside down by the sump cover and hit the bolt with a hammer. Trust me, i know about hitting things with a hammer.
