The 1/4" head that mounts the coil to the block is stripped , I tried filing the sides flat and take it off with vice grips, but the head is too small.
Might try cutting a slot for flathead screwdriver next.
Any recommendations?
It's on a 12 series 799983 short block.
I had some like that and feared it would break off to where it would be tough to fix. What I have done is ground the head off and removed the coil. Then your left with a stud sticking out. PB blast the threads where it goes into case and use vise grips working the stud out. Back and forth works well...just don’t do it fast where it gets hot from friction and snaps off. I’ve done the same on brakes bolts on transaxles that rust up.
