I hit a piece of angle iron which broke the lugs off the inside spindle. The blade is of course loose and the blade bolt is tight. I need to find a way to lock the spindle so I can remove the blade bolt and then remove the spindle. I thought about using a strap wrench on the pulley.I need the pulley for the new spindle so I do not want to damage it.
The spindle drops out from the bottom so a worst case you can weld the blade with is buggered to the spindle which is also buggered .
Done it lots of times.
Save both nuts but remember that genuine parts will have Unified threads where as a lot of the after market spindles have metric threads.
particularly on the cheap complete spindle assemblies.
Also be wary of the top nut
Some have a cut away to clear the spline and others have a spacer with a plain nut.
