stihl strimmers rebuold info wanted

hi have about 6 or 7 stihl strimmers fs36 38 40.amd 50s as they got harder to start ide just by anew one but now its time to strip and rebuild does any body know if these suffer with crank seal failure when left maling them hard to start? and does anybody know where i can get rebuld guides for the strip and rebuild any advise apppreciated
 
Hello S.,

Stihl is pretty restrictive when it comes to their repair information. They require people actually attend online or in-person paid training. I honestly do not recommend attempting to perform major engine repairs on these engines. These engines require specialty tools and considerable experience.

These engines seldom require very much internal repair or overhauling.

Consider this:

First, pull the muffler off of one of them and heat it red hot to burn out the carbon that has coated the inside of it. A carbon choked muffler slowly restricts air flow and the engine can be impossible to start.

Next, replace the carburetor and fuel lines. OEM carbs are best, but HIPA brand have been working good for many people.

Lastly, make sure to install a genuine spark plug from and actual parts store, not a cheap online vendor.
