I've just replaced a cylinder and crank assembly on my Stihl MS280 chainsaw. The old was was scored. When the old one was removed, I cleaned out some oil from the crankcase. Now that the saw is reassembled, I'm wondering if I should have added oil to the crankcase. I can't seem to find any info on this. If I do need to add lube, what type should be used?

Thanks,

Hi IO_storm

So is this a two stroke or 4 stroke? did you put any assembly grease on that when you put it back together? How are you going to get oil in there now if its back together,if its a 4 stroke you got to put oil in it. If it 2 stroke its in with the gas.

You may want to break the new cylinder in by starting and letting it sit at idle for 5 minutes before you start cutting for about the first five uses.
