Stihl MS 201 CE

A few days ago I purchased a new Stihl chain saw. MS 201 CE I have access to fifty or more acres of woodland for firewood cutting. Some part of it was timbered out and I am now cutting up the tops. I had been using the MS 310 for the big stuff, and a MS 181 for the smaller, 8 inches or less. I wanted something a bit stronger than the 181, but not heavier. So after some research decided to try the MS 201 CE. It was a bit pricy but wow what a sweet saw to work with. Easy starts, good power, light, and just feels right. When full throttle into the wood it feels smooth like an electric saw. I have about eleven hours on it now and could not be more impressed.

What do you think of your saw now that you had it a while?

I have many hours on the saw now and I have not had even one problem. This is a case were the extra money gave me a great tool. I would recommend this saw to my best friends. For anyone that does purchase one of these. Don't forget it takes a while for the rings, etc. to seat in and make full power. I found it took a bit longer than what the book said, but it did get stronger. I am thinking it will also last a long time. Very satisfied with the purchase. Have a great day cutting.

Thanks on the info, I'm getting ready to get one to buck tops in the 3-8" range with the yellow tag PS chain.

I have a Jonsered 2050 Turbo and find it so hard to cold start in my old age. I bought it back in the 90's and being a homeowner it hasn't got a ton of use. I was looking for a saw for cutting some downed trees when storms come threw and small stuff. I thought this ms201 would we the ticket.. Easy start seems to work? I hope I won't be too disapointed going from 50cu in to 35 cu in.

I have two saws with the EZ Start, a ms 180, and a ms 291. Works good, no jerking or hard pulls.

The stihl 201 was designed with tree care professionals in mind first with a top mounted handle for one hand use as the MS201T. The 201 CE is the rear handle version so yes it is an awesome saw. At the dealer where I work we only stock the top handle version because we never sell any of the rear handle version I don't know why.

It's a light, well balanced saw. I would have bought one already, but I bought a tractor instead.
