today i got out there to do a bit of work on the mower and i took the engine housiing/ covers off. only to find a worn starter motor gear but a cheap fix.
however, a more major problem that i discovered is it only has compression in one cylinder. i am not sure as to what is wrong with it (i am a ametuer on mechanics, but i know an ok amount) but i am thinking maybe bad piston rings on that piston or a gasket. also i dont think that piston has been firing as the spark plug on the no compression side looked like it had never a spark but the compression side was black and looked well used.
i have seen a engine rebuild kit for this engine but the price made me smile and imagine so i am considering this project to be scrapped.so, is there a cheap way to fix as i dont think it is worth what i may need to pay.
