So i put a different key switch which is a 5 prong key switch but the orginal has a prong for alt 1 which i assume is for the stator. where would i run said wire coming off the regulator? Straight to the battery?

Yes it would work just fine there. Why did You not get the original switch. Do you know all the terminals are the same on the two switches. Getting the wrong switch could blow the ignition modules.

If you are still using the dual circuit stator you can fry it you connect thing as indicated. As DC will back feed the AC part of the stator causing a short. AC and DC can peaceful co-exist of the same circuit connect correctly

And other words you are too cheap buy the correct switch. The last price update here has the 532175566 switch at $11 retail.

Since most these mower uses the plastic Delta switch what is it number?
