Starts, runs a few seconds then cuts out.

Duuuuuude I’m impressed with how you’ve taken care of that mower……just had to say something. I had an older Toro push mower, pre safety blade stop that I sold 15+ yrs old for more than I paid for it LOL. Still sorry I got rid of it!
I think you mean the shuroff cable? Yeah that happened to me. I purchased two cables and have never had that problem again.

When I switched to TruFuel, initially the mower would start, I would see a smooth drop in performance, then a recovery to full power. After a while, had to rock the mower to keep it from stalling, then it would cut out when it hit some thick grass. If the mower had become sufficiently hot, the mower was fine and would not cut out.

Great news! I was able to start the mower and it ran as long as I wanted it to. The primer bulb was stronger so I think that helped to prime the engine. After start up I rocked the mower holding the handle bar about 60 to 100 times. After warming up the engine ran, poping and spiting and some occasional rpm drop off. but did not stall on grass that was thick but not tall. I have trufuel in it now will run that dry and switch to Sunoco Highest Octane and the proper amount of stable. This spring I will overhaul my used carbs and get them ready for service again.

Thanks so much to all that responded. Hope with the new gas it will run powerful and smooth and yes I will run it dry before it goes back inside and I don't leave gas in the tank over the winter.

Speaking of primer bulbs, one wore out on my previous Murray which ran for 31 years just proper oil changes, spark plug and air filters. Eventually the platform broke. Those were the days. Bought a B&S bulb and easy peasy to install.

All the best.
