What type of services will you be providing? Check with some of the other Lawn businesses in your area and see what there charges are and go accordingly. Generally when new company's start they charge less to get there foot in the door and let word of mouth be there advertisement.

I will say yes but don't work for free.
Try and get a corner lot that is close to the entrance of the neighborhood. Most people notice it more. Make that yard look the best you can.
Be out working around 6pm it will impress the home owners.
Most my yards I got when I started out was from people stopping to talk to me on there way home from work around 6pm.
If you do a good job you will get the work.

I personally wouldn't worry about impressing anyone but the client whose lawn I was doing and it wouldn't matter where it was. Let your work do the talking. As I said word of mouth about the job you do for a client will be your best advertisement.

Good luck on your new venture. What I did was watched around the neighborhood to see who did the best job and then made sure my lawns looked better. Some guys are too busy to pick up litter and just mow over it. They're easy to beat. Lay their newspaper on the porch. Smile and wave to neighbores driving by. I was always on site when work was going on to answer any questions the homeowner had. Also pick up the kids toys in the back yard before you start. Many housewives are home alone during the day and are freaked out by a bunch of strangers in their domain. Make sure they see You every week to take off some of the edge. If you do a great job and are dependible, you'll have more business than you need. One other thing I had going for me was I was born here and I speak english. Just my opinion.
