Help! I have a dearly loved 2005 Dixon Speedzter 42 with a Briggs & Stratton 1-cyl INTEK 160 motor. It will not run. Starts up OK, but runs for about 20 seconds, then starts to sputter, loses power, then dies. I have put in all new fuel system (tubing, fuel pump, carburetor), magnto coil and spark plug. Still the same problem.
Any ideas on what it could be?

Loosen your fuel cap and see if the problem persists,
Also check your fuel tank for grass/debris that could stop up the outlet.

I'll be damned if that didn't fix it! Oh well, with a new carb, magneto, ful pump and fuel lines, it should run for a long time now!

No. There is a vent button in the middle of the cap to the fuel tank, but that button is stuck shut firmly. Unscrewing the gas cap allows the motor to run on and on as it once did.
