We just purchased a Spartan mower and have a couple of questions for those who have one.

Going through the purchasing process, we were told that when starting the mower, we pull the choke half way, start it, then push the choke back down (not having to push the choke down at the same time as trying to push start)

In the experience since we've purchased we have has to pull the choke all the way, attempt to start the mower while at the same te pushing the choke down to start it.

We're we just taught wrong? Or should we not have to pull the choke all the way l, press start and push choke down at the same time?

Pull out choke, start mower, and gradually push choke to off.

So the mower should start with the choke pulled and not by having to pull it and as you're pushing start trying to push choke down too?

That’s the way it says do it in most operators manuals. Push the choke off after starting. You shouldn’t need to choke the engine if it’s been running. However, you have a Spartan and I suppose you have that electronic start pad. What does your operators manual say?
