i have a 18hp briggs on a tractor that has been going strong for 20 years now it was my grand fathers he gave it to me and it runs like its brand new :thumbsup:

K-Pro-Mowing,
I hear that....I had a 1995 True Value Lawn Chief with a 16HP Briggs Vanguard that outlasted the tractor. When my son retired it last year(after 17 years of excellent mowing) that B & S engine still wasn't using a drop of oil and was the best running small engine I've ever owned. On the other hand, the 2006 Craftsman lawn tractor that I just replaced had a 24HP Briggs Intek and I wouldn't give that engine to my worst enemy. The Vanguard was a winner for Briggs!!!! Can't understand why they changed the design for the later Intek models:0(

So i went to the equipment dealer today looking to get some info on a Gravely ZT 34 home owner type mower for about 2200$ . Yes I know it's small and cheap but I'm on a budget. I have about ten yards a week to cut rite now and hopefully more as my business grows slowly. So I mention all this to her and she completely tells me I'm making a bad move and says if I'm on a budget that I should look at the Husqvarna RZ4222f twin brigs engine ztr for about $3300. Anybody have any advice on the Husqvarna ?? It looks great but I worry about the Briggs . Thanks in advance!

I have a Briggs 24 hp v-twin with 390 hrs on it, and it runs just as good as my other one with 170 hrs. If you keep up the service on it you shouldnt have any problems. The Husqvarna stuff I have is pretty good equipment.

Good deal! I spoke with my dealer thru email today and she pretty much told me the deck and engine would not let me down for the amount of work I do. But she says as my business gets larger ill need to upgrade because the tranny on the Husqvarna RZ4222F is non serviceable I'm guessing a sealed unit. But for what I have I think it's good for the money. Now just how much I should pay is the ??? Lol
