The plate on the motor shaft is probably bent and not making good contact. Pull motor and check the plate good luck

I've been meaning to ask a question about my Snapper RER 331416KVE -

It doesn't seem to like going in reverse. It will but it feels to me like it is much more difficult to put in reverse than it should be.

I am holding the clutch down HARD and then it takes a lot of my strength to get the handle into the reverse position and I need to hold it there so the mower will go backwards. Sometimes, it makes a metal-to-metal sound when it is reversing, which bothers me. Not like the gears are grinding, but metal-on-metal.

It does not want to go in reverse while the blade is engaged. Sometimes it will, but most times not.

Ideas?

Don't hold the brake/ clutch Pedal so hard let it come up a little and you will get right into reverse. I have two snapper mowers and on both I have to hold it in reverse and they both make the same sound.
