Smoke from air filter B&S

Hi
I have smoke blowing through breather tube into my air filter and am really stumped as to why, The Exhaust blows ok and no smoke.
I have done clearances on the exhaust and intake valve to spec. Inspected the Reed under the flywheel to the breather and looks ok. Could someone please tell me what else to look for here.
Its a Briggs and Stratton 500 E series engine push mower.

I suspect you may have a blown head gasket. With the engine running remove the dipstick and let it rest on the tube. If it bounces around that would indicate a bad head gasket. If you need more help, post back with your engine numbers.
