SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS UNITE!

If you are a small business owner, you will definitely understand my dilema. I recently entered a contest to win a new van for my small business through Chrysler Corporation's "Work Like a Pro Contest". The contest finalists are determined by a popular online vote. I am actually falling about 123 votes behind the leader. You are permitted to vote once per day. I could really use everyone's help from this forum because I need to prove that small business can thrive! If you wouldn't mind, please click on the link below. Then click on "Vote for This Business". It does not require a registration or any forms. Very simply, all you need to do is make two clicks...it will take two seconds. Thank you for your help.

I looked again and the link in the original post is a .ly link (not bitly.com). That doesn't necessarily mean that there's something wrong (malware, etc) but it is a Libyan domain (country code .ly).

I didn't vote and I'm not going to. I'm like you I don't like clicking on those things I always thought something was a little strange with those type things.

Hate to say this, but I agree with Ric on this one. The original poster never tells us what type of business he has, where he's located or even replied to say thanks to those who have voted. Also, he has not come back to explain any of the concerns posted. I doubt we will ever hear for him again.

He did say thank you in post #5 of this thread, but I do agree with you that I wish he would explain what he does, etc.

Rivets,
You all are cautious with good reason!! The user that started this thread has only started one other thread on the forums(Exmark Quest Hydraulic Fluid Maintenance) and it had the same link at the bottom of that post. I've been in the Information Systems career as a programmer/analyst for over 40 years. I work for the TN Dept. Of Treasury right now, so believe me we are serious about "security". Not only can clicking on unknown links potentially place malware, spyware, keylogger apps, etc. on your PC but really good hackers can turn your PC into a "bot" which they can control the background operating system ,store hidden files(like pornography) on your computer and then silently wake it up and distribute those materials world-wide without you even knowing about it(except for some reason your computer starts running "real slow". And even worse, sometimes they can actually, infect and bring down the host computer(aka the Lawn Mower Forum's servers:0(
I'm surprised if the Lawn Mower Forum doesn't have software that detects malicious website links and removes them. Of course I hope all of you guys have several layers of malware protection on your PC's(if that's what you use to access the forums). I keep 3 active malware scanners(1 pay suite and two free virus protection apps) all the time. It's a shame that there are hackers that have technical skills that could actually make a contribution to society instead of causing other harm:0(
