I tried to start my Simplicity Mod# 5900960 with 25 hp B&S professional yesterday and nothing...it ran fine last week
tried jumping it and got it running, but, for only a few seconds and it cut out
Seems like maybe an electrical issue
possibly a bad coil? spark plug?

More likely a bad battery.
If the mower does not see 12V then the carb solenoid closes shutting off fuel to the main jet.
Could be a dud battery or just corrosion on either or both ends of BOTH battery cables.
If the battery is flat then you will need to work out why this is happening as well
But one thing at a time
so start by cleaning the terminals, charging the battery & see what happens.
A fully charged battery should mow about 20 or so hours even if the alternator is not working.
So measure the battery voltage engine off, eng on & engine +PTO on & let us know what you find.
