The 10hp b&s just quit on me and I was wondering if I could put a 7 HP intek in it temporarily? The mower is a 70s landlord 7010. I just need the thing to move under its own power till I can get the 10 fixed.

Sure ... if it will mount where you need it to hook up the drive belt... Will have slightly less power if your going to mount a mower deck to it, but just for moving the lawn tractor around, you will not notice the difference between a 7 hp & a 10 hp....

Awesome the only concern I have is that the Intek is pull start and the rope covers the part of the flywheel where the drive shaft bolts up. Any ideas there?

I just went and looked at the motor and it is way different than the 10 that's in the tractor now. it won't work without large modifications
