Hi Everyone,

Just founds this forum and could use your assistance.

My grandfather just gave me his meticulously maintained 33" Series 7 snapper (Model 33147KE). I'm excited to own it as I spent many a summer mowing his lawn with it.

The belt was just replaced but it's too tight (he had a very difficult time getting it on). The blade is engaged at all times regardless of the position of the blade lever.

I've loosened the tube clamp and made sure the mower is at it's shortest distance. The belt was purchased from a snapper dealer and appears to be the correct length and model (22252). I've checked that it's running inside the various guides and the idler pulley appears to be correctly positioned as well.

Any suggestions? My only thought was to order another belt from an online retailer and try again.

Thanks

I would bring the belt back and tell them it is to short.
First thing I thought was shorting the mower or you put it on wrong. But you have checked a that.
Snapper is one of the brands that MOST of the time you must use there belts.

(( racing is the only sport that you need two balls ))

Thanks for the replies everyone.

It turns out the frame was cracked - right when the support beam meets the center console. This caused a sagging which had the affect of lengthening the mower.

I had a local mower repair shop weld some bracing in and with a little tweaking got it back in running conduction. Although in hindsight I probably should have just bought a new front end. It would have looked nicer than the weld job they did and been about the same cost (not counting the amount of work I'd have to do to replace it).
