We are replacing our 20 year old GE side-by-side this week, it was a $1900 model new, with all the bells and whistles, still looks good, works fine, only has cosmetic flaws. My wife thinks we should try to sell it, me, I doubt if it is worth much, saw one like it at the local Goodwill for $24.99 last month.
How do you set a selling price for an item like this anyhow? To me it's about as much work to deliver it to the Goodwill store (3 miles, but no tax writeoff) as it is to deal with a prospective buyer then help them load it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
hey jd, maybe just put 'best offer' and see what happens,i would think that 'some' guys might be happy with it in their garage "man cave" :biggrin: maybe some factories would be interested in it for their break rooms. maybe donate to a church for their eating area (if applicable),maybe a homeless shelter. it's early here thats all i have now:biggrin:
Good point it's one of the worst energy gobblers-- was even when new...already have a second smaller fridge and don't need this as a backup. Checking now to see if there are any local churches, etc that could use it.

I could also suggest the local Sheriff - they might be able to use it at their office. When I got my new truck the 99 Durango had 130,000 on it and the dealer wanted to give me $500 for it :laughing: :laughing: :tongue: - no rust, new (complete rebuild) tranny, oil & filter changed every 2,000, extra set of tires mounted on wheels, 5.9 V8, and clean inside. I donated it to the Sheriff and took it off on my taxes. They use it every day and LOVE it !
You can list it on Craigslist as well. Thats is where I began my search for a garage fridge. I paid 100 for one that is probably not as nice as yours. Or you can donate to a community group....post it in the free section of Craigslist with that stipulation
