Self Propelled stopped on Honda HRX 217...

I picked up this mower real cheap knowing something was wrong, but hoping it could be fixed.

Spent a few solid hours cleaning it, what a mess. From what I've read there are two areas to look at: A) The belt - It appears tight and in relatively good shape, B) The connection on the transmission from the lever - It moves/rotates but barely 1/8" of movement.

Any thoughts??

Tried to adjust the cable, nothing. Belt has a little slack, wonder if that could be the culprit...

Never remedied the issue.

Posted it locally for sale and found someone with the same mower looking for the engine only. Win-win...
