This is my first time on this forum and hope I have it directed correctly.
I have a Scag 36sw 15 hp Kohler walkbehind mower that is low hours and 8 years old. the blades stopped engaging. I pull the wire harness off of the PTO switch and jumped the bottom 2 wires in the wire harness plug. I got a spark when hooking up the jumper cable and the PTO clutch kicked in. The original switch was bad when I check with ohm meter. Thus I put in a new PTO switch. The PTO clutch worked for about 20 minutes and then stopped again. This time I tried jumping the wire harness and the PTO did not engage. And I used an ohm meter and confirmed the new switch is working by allowing current when on and no current when off. Is the PTO electric's shot which was possibly causing to much resistance and burned out the first switch? And now the PTO electrics have gone totally bad? I notice when I used the jumper wire, the wire gets very hot quickly. Any suggestions before I buy a new PTO clutch which is $200+.
thanks,
