It's time for a new clutch!!!
Clutches can fail in either or both of these ways, the coil insulation can break down causing the coils of wire to short to themselves and the coil can short to ground.
If the coil shorts to ground, the path of least resistance is thru the crankshaft, the main bearings and then to ground.
You need to know both of these conditions, the resistance between the two coil wires and from either coil wire to ground.
Do the check from either coil wire to ground. This reading should be infinity or no continuity.
Although fairly rare, a clutch coil that has shorted to ground can cause serious internal engine damage as the electricity passes thru the main bearings can damage them and cause engine failure.
Let us know what you find.
Over the years I have torn down two engines that had main bearing failure due to a grounded clutch coil. The main bearing closest to the clutch is where the damage usually is found.
