What is the best way to check the rpm's on this mower? Is there an easy way to do it yourself with an inexpensive tach?

you can get one of these... they are accurate enough for small engine use.

Here are the specs for engine speed; be sure the engine is fully warmed up when checking / adjusting...

* Throttle in SLOW position, blade control = OFF, adjust the throttle stop screw to obtain 1,700 +/- 150 rpm

* Throttle in FAST position, blade control = ON, engine should be turning 2,950~3,100 rpm.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to order the tach. Where do you place the tach so that is picks up the vibrations?
