rolling the lawn

Its that time of year again. Roll the lawn. I don't like mowing and the only thing worst is rolling the lawn. Way too slow and boring. Just back and forth at a very slow speed. Most people on this forum enjoy using the lawn tractor but to me I prefer repairing them not operating them. I think it come from when I was young and living on the farm, I got that from ruining a farm tractor every day all day long. It was a job back then that lasted 10 hrs or more a day. I couldn't get away from the farm fast enough to get into the repair business.

I guess you could buy a condo and rent a storefront shop. That should eliminate your lawn care woes.

Now that would be my idea and would do it in a flash, BUT my other haft won't have anything to do with it. Believe me I have brought it up more then once but that brings up some disagreements that you wouldn't want to hear about. My idea would be rent a apartment and a small garage. I don't want to be a land owner too many problims, Taxes, and people that want to hunt on my land.

I love seat time. Either on a mower or a tractor. I'll agree the slow goin on the tractor can get boring but I just get in the "zone" and enjoy.
I rarely get tired of mowing. I mow alot of large areas(multiple acres) and I consider mowing them an art. And its instant gratification. Once done I look back and say damn that looks nice!

Now for me to get into a zone would be on a twisty road on my Harley on a nice summer day in the Adirondack mountains of NY going about 60+ MPH. To me it is like riding a roller coaster it gives you some excitement. Mowing the lawn is a boring job I have to do once a week. We all enjoy different

Are you serious? Animals have to be cared for and I already have one cat which is one too many. In my younger years I raised pigs, cattle, and had a horse. As I remember they all involved a lot of work and the horse was the most expensive. It was a full time job finding hay and going after hay. Now if a person had a lot of land and equipment to raise there own feed I could see doing it if that is what you want. I don't want any part of it seeing I am not a animal lover. They stink and make a big mess, NO thank-you:eek:

a cat should be able to look after itself and earn his keep by catching mice,if it can't it aint worth keeping.
I was just joking about the goat and the tatonka ,but Bison takes the least amount of work and daily expenses of all farm animals.
I rather deal with animals than with people,an animal is 100% honest and never complaines,..can't say that with people.

Might it be that you carry yer nose to close to your ***

In truth, I zone out mowing too. Having been indoctrinated into the use of hearing protection during my Navy career, I put on the "mickey mouses", fire up the mower and it's just me, the mower, and the lawn. Escapism without leaving the yard. Twisty roads in my Focus SES with modified suspension and sticky tires is a good time too if my girlfriend isn't with me. She has back problems and the "rollercoaster" ride is actually uncomfortable for her.

I can see you don't know very much about cats. Frist of all if you just let a cat run out side to catch mice its not going to live long in my neighbor hood. Frist it is going to get fleas and ticks. If it can live with the fleas and ticks it will get killed in the road or the coyotes / neighbors will kill it. Now this cat needs fresh food, water and cat litter every day. This cat needs a good brushing once a week or your house is full of cat hair. A bag of cat food is 15 dollars and a bag of cat litter a good 5 dollars. I even have to pay for my water. Then on top of it all the vet charges a 100 dollars a year for a physical and shots.

Sooo, you think i don't know much about cats eh.

Well for starters,i had plenty of these nuisances on my yard that lived long and healty lives outside year round without me feeding them,..a cat is a predator and can easely live on its own as long as it ain't spoiled like these freeloader humans that rather get handouts from welfare than to work for it.
My cats were wilder than a cougar and have never met a vet cause when it looked like it one needed one, i used the .22 to catch them, once i had them medicine wouldn't be any good to them anymore anyway:laughing:.

Its a lot different where you live then where I do. If a person shoots, don't feed, or take care of a cat, dog or any domestic animal and if the wrong person sees it you go to jail. They call it animal cruelty. Now I don't know what the law is when a farmer butchers a animal for food or how its done?? It sounds like you have no feeling for your cats and just let them breed at will. When I was a child many years ago my father had cows and as I remember the barn never had any shortage of wild cats and he would put a pan of milk down for them. Yes as I remember they were very good hunters. If I get a stray cat I will live trap it and bring it to the animal humane society. Yes it cost me 10 dollars a cat but its the right thing to do. This is the reason I don't want any animals but yes I have ended up with a cat I don't want, but I have stepped up to the plate any give it proper care. Now when it hunting season I have shot my share of wildlife some for sport and some for food.

Back in the 50's running a Ford 9N or a International OS6 they didn't have radios or padded seats on the tractors. As I recall the OS6 steered very hard on top of it all so that was my last choice. After a full day I would be very happy to be done driving tractor.

We had a JD B and H with no fenders so no radios on them but with no cabs on the JD 3020 and 2510 the radio was mounted on the fenders.
