We bought a 5 acre horse farm in Northern IL. Use our toro lawn tractor for chores and we keep it in an unheated barn. Temperature now is in 20's. Our lawn tractor starts, but we're wondering what we should do to make sure this continues as the weather gets colder.

If you have access to a power outlet a trickle charger is always helpful.

When I lived in North Dakota I found that battery warmers were also very helpful.

It can be as simple as putting a drop light near the oil pan or in the engine bay. That is assuming you have power accessible.

Otherwise the thinnest winter oil recommended by your machines manufacturer and the battery with the most cold cranking amps that will fit that you can get.

how many "horse power" lol,im sorry I had to,go with a 5w-30 oil,and a drop light connected to a timer, and with a battery with the highest cold cranking amps you can get, probably a 350cca from interstate batteries would be fine
