I run a used MTD snowblower attachment on my lawn tractor, P/N is 190-032.
I want to change out the lubricant in the right angle gearbox, that P/N is 917-1714A.It is driven with a belt from the tractor's PTO.
I've googled for info on gear oil type and proper fill level with no luck, I removed the plug to look and the oil is about 1/4" from the top.
Does anyone know the proper weight/type of oil to use in these units?

Looks like most people use "00 grease" or 80w90 gear oil. I
or contact MTD and ask them

it is most likely a peerless right angle drive, and both 00 grease and 80w90 are both used. I haven't looked at my old peerless manual yet but I would suspect either would be safe.

I think this is the manual IL is talking about, which may be of some help. https://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Peerless-Tecumseh-Transmissions-Transaxles-Differentials-Gear-Boxs/
