Has anyone replace their amp gage to a digital led one I am looking to do so but don’t know if I need an amp or if a voltage gauge will work using same wires from old gauge

My 2005 LT1000 doesn't have any gauges. What do you need the gauge for - to remind yourself constantly that the alternator is working???
