Export threadI just took mine off 5 minutes ago on an Intek 17. First I soaked it with PB Blaster. Then I put a 1/2 inch ratchet on it and struck the handle with a standard hammer. About a dozen hits and it popped right off. If you happen to have an air impact wrench even better.
I have a B & S 24 hp Intek motor. Model 4440000. I need to change the stator under the flywheel. I am trying to figure out how to hold the flywheel stationary so I can loosen the nut. Any ideas?

On every push mower where I've removed the flywheel nut I block it from turning with the handle end of a 1/2" Craftsman ratchet. Or any large screwdriver, or whatever I can find handy. Then I use a big pipewrench and ease it right off. Getting the flywheel itself to turn loose I would squirt some PB blaster on the threads and tap around the shaft with a flat nose punch and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then put a big screwdriver or ratchet handle under the flywheel and pick up on it while you strike the top of the shaft (with the nut flush so when you hit it, it won't expand. Also use a piece of wood on the top of the shaft when you hit it with a hammer while you pull up on the flywheel etc. It should pop right off!
I finally got it. Soaked it with PB Blaster for hours. I ended up fabricating a plywood clamp to hold the flywheel in place while I broke the flywheel nut free. It still took a 4 ft. pipe on my breaker bar to get it. Thanks for all the help.
