What is the proper way to remove the rear wheels from the shaft.
I got one off but the other is on tight. I have it soaking in Breakaway.

Try this link for more information otherwise keep soaking and blasting. Good Luck , you are going to need it. Stay calm and diligent.:mur:

:ashamed:

I'm guessing that is not the outcome I wanted!:frown:

On the bright side, now I can take it to someone to have
it removed. The trans-axle is a FOOTE 3264. I will need a
parts list for it as the snap ring is now inside. I will now
learn to take apart a Foote!

Look a t the throttle/governor on the engine. It has epoxy
on it! Is the slide plastic?

Yes it is plastic and looks to have been broken. Some one did not want or have the means to replace it and did a MacGyver on it.

I took the axle/wheel combo to a motorcycle shop and they were able to separate the two!
It took a 12 ton press to do it! It was FREE.

axleinside.jpgClam shell is apart. It looks real good inside. Now I need the Spirolox R retaining ring.
I think Sears has them.

 Seen that done to many times. The reason for the c-clip/snap ring is, so it will come off to keep from damaging the rest of the transaxle, It is best when in stalling the rim back on the axle. To polish up the axle and rim hub and coat the axle and the key with never seize. Then you should have no trouble if you have to remove the rim again.

Is "never seize" the name of the product?
I have Brake.Away that I used to help get it off.
But it took a 12 ton press to get it off. Then it first
started to move it sounded like a gun had gone off!
I have a peerless trans axle that has both wheels
stuck on it. I may just open it up and remove both
axles to get them off. The wheels are 8x10x20. I
want to put them on the LT 11 36.

I ordered the rings on 2/7 and they are still not here on 2/16! Sears is so so slow.
The weather is warming up.
Nascar tonight!

I removed this one using a drill, a saws all to split the hub and a couple of wedges driven in the kerf. Another method I've read is to weld a nut on the hub and use the threads as a pusher but I've never tried that so I can't comment on the success of that method.

 Yes, that is one name. Some people call it Anti-seize. Also some people use Axle/Wheel bearing-Grease. I have also split the transaxle case and used my 20 ton press, after soaking with PB blaster for a couple of days. It sounded like a cannon going off.

 There have been several the I had to use the gas wrench to cut the rim off the hub center and then use a cut-off tool to split the center of the rim hub. This is after all over methods have failed. Of course that requires a new/used rim as a replacement.
