I've retired from working on these 2 cycle Clark engines but thought some might like to see what it takes to supply our cities with natural gas. Some 2 cycles are being phased out because of exhaust regulations.

I never worked on V 12 Clarks only inline 6 cyl and even those turbochargers were too heavy for a 1 ton flat bed to haul. The V 10s I was associated with were Cooper non turbo 2 cycle that used big scavenging air pistons for combustion air.

One of the many mechanic jobs I had was rebuilding paper making machines. Everything was large and heavy and adjusted to the thousands. When ever anything was lifted you had to use straps and a overhead crane. I did this job for about 6 months each time in a two year period on what they called a labor loan. My employer rented out my labor and you can bet they got a lot more money then I did.

Senior, Thanks for the tour. You could have run the queen mary. Did you every see her. I think she sits at Long Beach CA. Don't miss a chance for the tour if you are in LA. Looking at those huge pistons makes a person feel like Alice in wonderland.
