Question on rotary briggs and stratton

Hello there i have a qual cast briggs and dtratton lawnmower and today a random spring came out. This is odd to me therefore i would appreciate some help finding out what its name is and where it goes

gpav, Not familiar with your machine, but the spring has classic look of throttle return to me. Maybe governor if you have one.

No the govenor is fine.

Its a self propelled 148cc

Usually the only springs on mowers are governor/throttle, self propel transmission return, and blade clutch

Hmm thanks for that i know it fell from the bottom so im guessing its self propell transmission. However even without the spring the lawnmower works ok

It kinda looks like the sspring that connects the govenor to the back plate of the air filter the governor arm has a little loopdy loop in it before the carb that has a spring that connects to the plate on the other side of the carb.

The transmission spring is what pulls the transmission back to "neutral" position

The clutch spring at least in the proline engages the blade brake system. I'm thinking its the first one I know there is a better way to describe it but I am at a loss for words

The govenor and the other spring is all in good nick. I just cannot find where it is missing from

Looking at the photo it looks too clean to have come off any working mower, did you clean it up a little before posted..?

Could it not be a wheel height adjuster spring....!:licking:

I did not clean it .
I will have to check that thanks
