Hello there i have a qual cast briggs and dtratton lawnmower and today a random spring came out. This is odd to me therefore i would appreciate some help finding out what its name is and where it goes
gpav, Not familiar with your machine, but the spring has classic look of throttle return to me. Maybe governor if you have one.
No the govenor is fine.
Hmmm
Its a self propelled 148cc
Usually the only springs on mowers are governor/throttle, self propel transmission return, and blade clutch
Hmm thanks for that i know it fell from the bottom so im guessing its self propell transmission. However even without the spring the lawnmower works ok
It kinda looks like the sspring that connects the govenor to the back plate of the air filter the governor arm has a little loopdy loop in it before the carb that has a spring that connects to the plate on the other side of the carb.
The transmission spring is what pulls the transmission back to "neutral" position
The clutch spring at least in the proline engages the blade brake system. I'm thinking its the first one I know there is a better way to describe it but I am at a loss for words
I did not clean it .Looking at the photo it looks too clean to have come off any working mower, did you clean it up a little before posted..?
Could it not be a wheel height adjuster spring....!:licking:
