On my 01-11-2010 post on the seized Stihl engine, I got it freed up with the diesel fuel in the cylinder advice. I probably poured in too much(about 6 oz.) diesel because it came out from the muffler. I stood the saw up on end(bar down) for several hours to drain it out. The engine turns easily with the spark plug removed, but with it in place I can hardly turn it over...lots of resistance. Was hoping to get it running without taking in for teardown. Is there still diesel in the engine somewhere causing the resistance? Any suggestions? Thanks.

With the plug out turn it over a lot ... that will remove most of the diesel .
What little remains in and around the rings will clear when you fire it up...
It sounds like you still have great compression ...:smile:KennyV

Yesterday and today I've pulled it probably 100 times. Nothing coming out of the plug hole. The resistance is less, but still much more than normal. Could some diesel be in the exhaust system or in the crankcase causing the resistance? Thanks.

Likely stuff around the rings..
You could pull it apart and clean it up, or take a chance that it will clean up on it's own...
You can start it with the plug loose and see how it does...
