I run the Stihl and Echo Trimmers both and I use the regular Echo Trimmer Line .095 and it works very well but i find I go through it quite fast. I found Trimmer line with the wire insert and was wondering if anyone has used this line with their Trimmers and what effects it has on the Trimmer itself and its line cutter.

Ric,my brother was telling me about that line, never used it myself. My thoughts would be that it could be somewhat dangerous when it breaks off and pieces of wire go flying.I use a sthil trimmer and found that the heaviest gauge sthil sells which is red over the orange color works pretty good.sorry I don't know the gauge off the top of my head. russ
Frankly this is my first time to hear about trimmer line. Off hand they are safer to operate than trimmers with rotating blades. But can they really cut grass effectively and evenly?
Now I think I recall seeing someone operate a trimmer. But I didn't see him actually operating it. He was resting under a tree, eating his lunch. I noticed that there was no blade on his trimmer. For some reason I presumed he removed it for safety reasons.
But what I recall is that the grass blades around have looked like they've been really whipped. Kindly confirm. Is that how the grass looks like using the trimmer line?
