Good evening,
I have a 20 horsepower Vanguard V-twin engine on a snapper 50 inch zero turn and I'm having issues trying to find the correct valve push rod length. I've replaced the valve guide and now I ordered some new pushrods but the ones that came in today are actually longer than the ones that came out can someone help me in trying to locate the proper pushrod size.

Lets start with the model number of your Vanguard engine so we know what engine you are working on.

The engine model number on a vanguard should be a metal tag riveted on the engine near the oil filter. will actually have model type code on the tag. From my research looks like the engine is a 358777-0280-G1 which you should confirm from the engine tag. Looks like the steel intake push rod should be part number 691836 and the aluminum exhaust push rod should be part number 691758

Both push rods should be the same length so you may be able to replace the aluminum push rod with the steel one and not have any ill effects.

No, ILegine is right. Briggs has 6-4-2 nomenclature. You're missing the last 7.
