I have a Kawasaki FD791D (DFI) engine on my scags.
Everything seemed to be OK, but now the engine is starting to pulsate on me. It's like it is running out of gas and then getting the gas back. Pulses. When it is cold it is better, but after it gets warmed up then it really starts to pulse.

I've taken out the air filter. no change.

I'm assuming that the machine has a govenor (maybe not) and it is holding the rev up and down.

Where do I start looking for a solution.

Pump is fine, injectors are fine, air filter is not the problem, something else is causing the pulse problem but only when the engine gets hot.

Help

Must be a new Scag Turf Tiger or a repower.
Engines with fuel injection have an onboard computer and other electronic components to correctly meter fuel flow. They still do have a throttle control and a governor. Troubleshooting these engines is usually done with a laptop plugged in.
If this engine is still on warranty, get the machine to a Kawasaki servicing dealer.

It has 2,000 plus hours on it and it is not new. Yes, to the ECU. Interestingly enough, you can buy an adapter 15001-1500 so that you have access to the pins for only $215.00 (sarcastic) But get this, you can't buy that ECU anymore. They make another version for replacement and the $215.00 adapter won't work with the new connector.
