I have a Grasshopper mower. When the mower is cool, the blades will engage. When the mower is hot, the blades will not reengage if I stop them for any reason. Also, the blades will stop working on occasion if the mower is run over deeper grass. Then they will not reengage.

Suggestions for areas that I can check for problems.

I checked the fuses and they were good. I can hear the PTO whirring but the blades do not engage. It is possible the PTO clutch is bad, but I don't know how to determine that.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

That sounds just like what happened to my 2000 GH 618 last summer. It was the electric clutch. I can't remember for sure how much it cost to replace it. I think it was around $150 if you do it yourself. My dealer told me a trick to get the springs unhooked use a small rope or cable on the hook at the end. It allows you to get a good grip. Using plyers or any other hand tool will drive you crazy. :confused2: Good luck.
