PTO Issue

I have a 2012 Ferris 3100Z that I bought used not long ago, 700 hours. So yesterday I was pulling it out of the barn, cranked up fine. Went to engage the PTO and the engine started sputtering a little, belts / pulleys not engaging. so I cut it off and then tried to start it back up again and just getting a humming sound from near the starter area? Anyone have any input, assuming maybe the PTO switch is bad?

Sounds more like a duff battery to me or bad connections
1) try bypassing the battery cables with jump start leads
2) try the same with you car battery
