PTO is not engaging with Conquest Mower

I was cutting the grass and hit a stick hiding in the grass. Immediately, the PTO unit stopped working. The mower continues to run fine but when you pull the PTO switch the engine does not make any change in sound. It does not look like anything is caught underneath although I have not jacked it up yet. It continues to run and does not shut off when you pull the PTO switch. It looks like the belts are all file but the spindle underneath where the belts are attached is not moving. Most things I have read suggest checking the PTO switch and the PTO clutch. The switch was replaced 2 summers ago (I know it could still be that but I don't think so). I followed the line and the line seems intact. How do I check the PTO clutch and is there anything else that I should be checking. Trying to save myself a repair bill if I can. Thanks in Advance.

I would get under it and see if a wire got pulled off if the clutch

Correct, key removed from ignition & deck down, check connection plug. Also, by hand grab belts and pull towards you visually looking between belts and pulleys for pieces of stick. I had this happen when a 1" long 1/4" diameter stick became wedged between belt and pulley on center spindle.
