hello,

i own a 2007 hustler super z 66". it is a beast of a machine & mows the turf so very well.

2 weeks ago now i ordered a set of arm rests to replace those chewed by one of the dogs. they aren't cheap.

hustler shipped the set in a mailer that arrived yesterday with NO contents, as the seal was not fastened PROPERLY and the contents spilled from the mailer. this had to be a DEI hire to do something this stupid.

this evening i sent an email to hustler with necessary documentation, to have this order replaced.

as poor as this service was, i have no confidence that hustler will do the right thing.

anyone have any problems like this?

thanks.

Hello D.,

Give them a chance to make it right before you throw them to the curb. Parts frustrations are not easy but give them a chance before prematurely jumping on the web to complain.

you have a point, but this is a SIMPLE transaction: customer orders parts, parts are pulled from stock & sent to shipping dept. shipping packs parts (properly) & sends to customer via shipper.

NEVER in my life has this happened - the mailer arrives with no contents. and the error is that the top flap that folds OVER the bottom flap was NOT folded over the bottom. it was folded onto itself. the mailer was open when it was mailed.

who in the USA isn't smart enough to 'operate' a self-adhesive folder?

in retrospect it is probably advised to order parts from a local dealer if one is nearby. this way if there are any 'delivery issues' the customer (me, you) won't be affected directly by them.

Hello D.,

Pardon the observation. but you did mention the "USA". We are in modern times where most young people are just breathing "drones" that show up for a paycheck and seldom held accountable for their actions.

I have too suffered parts Delima's like this many times in recent years but have been able to resolve them through the selling vendor without too much hassle.

When I was a service manager for a JD dealer, it was like a revolving door trying to find anyone qualified to actually have the competence to work. Most only lasted a few days until they realized it was an actual job that was expected for them to produce.

For several of them they played good until the "90 days traditional probation" period passed and then they turned downright evil. I found myself documenting every calamity until the company general manager decided to cut them loose. I had hiring power but not firing power due to "company policies" .

It is a trick that people play in many industries.... Work 90 days and then the company has to work harder to let the person go. It comes down to them collecting unemployment benefits. It is the magic number of 90 days, then it falls on the company to fight unemployment because a worthless individual pulled a fast one for a free ride.

as noted above i mentioned DEI hire.

so the solution to this problem is not to order from the manufacturer, rather the local dealer.

2 years back a deck spindle needed replacement. bought it on ebay, but available EVERYWHERE it seemed. ebay had a quality part at a better price. but not with these arm rests. since the original cost on this seat was around $600, this is a specialty part that matches a few others, but was not widely available. heck it was not on ebay or amazon even with 'cross reference' numbers.

my mistake for ordering directly from hustler...

Things do get damage or lost in shipping. Sometimes it is because the vendor and sometimes it is the shipper. These packages goes thru many hands before they arrive. If it is the initial packer's fault they need to know this so they can correct it on future shipments.

I usually call the vendor about poor packaging so they can improve things. Sometimes it just poor quality tape and they need to use a stronger tape. One of the worst shippers is Amazon with their minimum packaging scheme. I have even received packages that look like someone have stomp them.

Most shippers are good, carefully, and deliver on time except for one; the USPS. I have had to make it to my local TN distributor [next to the to last stop before delivery] to only to get sent all the way out West to states like CA, AZ, and CO. Those packages were to sent to my local post office instead took a vacation run out West.

Also note there are thieves in the system too that remove contents and pretend they got lost. Only a matter they get caught. A lot those items end up on eBay and Facebook market places.

of course. typically i have NO problem from shippers or merchants.

as noted above this was not a case of the mailer rupturing, this was due to a DEI hire: the person responsible for sealing the mailer did NOT fasten the top flap with the adhesive to the bottom of the mailer; it was fastened onto itself. see the below sentence.

"and the error is that the top flap that folds OVER the bottom flap was NOT folded over the bottom. it was folded onto itself. the mailer was open when it was mailed."

after the response was posted above, the dealer responded to the email sent saturday and indicating a replacement would be sent in 3-4 days.
