Brand new compressor just sat forever. I put fresh fuel in it and filled the crankcase with oil. It has an oil symbol on the valve cover with a cap. Is the fuel pump hydraulic driven? I cant get fuel to the injector i tried to crack the line and bleed it. Still nothing. I took the fuel pump off the block and cleaned it out. Still no fuel pumping. Any ideas?

Diesels have different fuel delivery systems. They all have two fuel pumps. The first pump from the fuel tank is a low pressure pump which delivers to a very high pressure pump. This high pressure pump comes in many different forms. The high pressure fuel goes to a injector which has a valve in it. If there air in the system this valve wouldn't open and the engine will not run. Some diesels have this high pressure pump built right into the injector itself and some have a external pump, so I don't know what you have?

The engine is a small single cylinder engine probably an 8hp. The fuel tank is above the engine and gravity fed to the fuel pump that is integrated into the engine block. I pulled the pump off the side of the block and cleaned everything inside. It's a mechanical fuel pump, a plunger is pushed in and out driven off a part internally in the engine. I put everything back together and loosened up the injector line to the injector to bleed the fuel up to the injector. Nothing comes out of the line. I changed fuel filters and made sure everything flows to the pump

I take it you are talking about the injector pump that you took apart? Then there is a line that go's from the pump to the injector. Air is a big enemy in the fuel system of a diesel. You will have to first get all air out of the line to the pump. Then if the pump doesn't pump pass itself, did you put it together right? or you must have a pump problem? Then once you get the pump to pump fuel you will have to bleed the fuel line to the injector. I know through the years there has been times I have had hard times bleeding all the air out of a diesel fuel system. A word of caution never put your finger over the high pressure fuel line because it will blow fuel right through your skin. I have worked more on the larger diesels then the small engines so I am just guessing what you have.

Yep I'm getting fuel to the injection pump but no fuel out of it. I thought about pressurizing the tank to force fuel into the injection pump if it's not drawing it in

Sure can't hurt anything, worth a try. Make sure you don't get any air in the the supply line. We have a business that rebuilds injector pumps close to where I live. If all else fails you might want someone to check the pump out.

I'll try that tonight that's what I've done in the past on equipment that doesn't have a fuel pump feeding the injection pump. The valve cover has a plastic cap that has an oil symbol, I don't know if you have to fill it from there or put a small amount in there to prime the lifter for the injection pump. The hole is only about 3/8". I filled the crankcase from the bottom
