I just bought a Simplicity Landlord DLX 20hp [1693383]. I am a old wheel horse owner. Power steering is new to me, but it seem touchy. At slow speed and higher especially.
My yard not perfectly smooth. Seem the steering is back and forth to much.

Years ago, VW had a similar problem (lightly loaded front, 60 % plus of the weight in the rear) ..Finally, in the 60s, as I recall, they added a steering damper ..This was also available as an accessory for others ..I cannot see power steering in a lawn tractor .. A good power steering system does act as a steering damper ..

Check the universal joint screws and the joint itself..
