I own a Poulin Pro Model PP175G42 with peerless transaxle 206-565 (197941) that I'm having issues with. The mower is about 4 years old. The issues is when i use 4th gear, the mover jerks and lunges when going uphill. The mower runs fine in any other gear, but unfortunately, I have away used 4th gear to cut glass with. I'm guess there is an issue with one of the gears in the transaxle but need some advice. Anyone ever ran into this issue?

You are putting too much load on the drive system so the tensioner arm lets off the tension in the belt the snatches it back after the belt slips a little
A new drive belt, & tensioner spring should fix the problem
And of course the pivot must be in good condition and well lubed .
The tension spring may well have chewed out the mounting points as well so might need a spot of welding .
